Role Overview

The Senior Director, RPO & Client Solutions is a senior client-facing leader responsible for identifying, developing and expanding strategic RPO partnerships across the life sciences sector. This role requires a proven relationship builder with deep industry credibility, exceptional new business development capabilities, and the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to executive and HR leaders.
The ideal candidate brings an established network within biotech, pharma, and life sciences organizations, paired with hands-on experience leading complex RPO engagements and selling high-impact talent solutions. This individual will drive new RPO business, and may serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned key accounts, ensuring delivery excellence, client satisfaction, and long-term partnership growth.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Develop net new RPO clients across the life science industry
  • Build and execute a proactive go to market strategy focused on engaging biotech, pharma, diagnostic and medical device organizations across early stage, growth stage, and commercial cohorts.
  • Lead consultative discovery discussions to diagnose client talent challenges and frame high value RPO solutions aligned to business objectives.
  • Partner with marketing team to create and deliver compelling messaging, thought leadership, and solution collateral that accelerates pipeline growth.
  • Drive top of funnel activity-including outreach campaigns, networking, and conference engagement-to consistently generate qualified RPO opportunities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to shape pricing strategies, proposals, and pursuit plans that strengthen win probability and revenue performance.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline documentation, CRM hygiene, and forecasting discipline to inform business planning and decision making.


Client & Relationship Leadership

  • Own and manage senior-level client relationships across assigned RPO and Client Solutions accounts.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, HR, TA, and business stakeholders within life sciences organizations.
  • Leverage existing industry relationships to expand footprint within current accounts and generate new RPO opportunities.
  • Drive client retention, satisfaction, and expansion through proactive relationship management and strategic planning.


RPO Program Leadership

  • Lead the design of RPO solutions tailored to client needs, scale, and growth stage.
  • Provide insight to RPO delivery leadership to ensure excellence across all phases of the RPO lifecycle, including intake, workforce planning, recruiting execution, reporting, and optimization.
  • Partner closely with delivery leaders to align recruiting strategy with business goals and evolving talent needs.
  • Anticipate client risks and opportunities, proactively addressing challenges and identifying solutions.


Account Growth & Commercial Impact

  • Identify and execute opportunities for new Business accounts, account expansion, including additional RPO scope, executive search, talent consulting, and employer branding services.
  • Contribute to revenue growth, forecasting, and pipeline development.


Internal Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as a connector across TSP and the broader Syneos Health organization, bringing integrated solutions to clients.
  • Partner with Search, Talent & Leadership Consulting, Storyteller/Brand, and Operations teams to deliver seamless client experiences.
  • Mentor and support client-facing and delivery team members, modeling consultative, client-first behaviors.


Market & Industry Presence

  • Maintain strong visibility within the life sciences community through conferences, networking, and thought leadership.
  • Stay current on industry trends, workforce dynamics, and competitive landscapes to inform client strategy.
Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in life sciences recruiting, RPO, talent solutions, or workforce consulting. 5+ years of business development experience in the RPO environment.
  • Prior experience within an RPO provider, executive search firm, or life sciences consulting organization.
  • Demonstrated success leading and growing complex RPO engagements within biotech, pharma, or medical device organizations.
  • Established network of senior-level relationships across the life sciences sector.
  • Strong account management background with a proven ability to retain, grow, and expand client relationships.
  • Experience working in a matrixed, enterprise environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with early-stage, growth-stage, and commercial-stage life sciences companies.
  • Familiarity with TA technology ecosystems, workforce analytics, and operational reporting.
  • Experience collaborating within a global organization or healthcare solutions platform.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $140,000 to $180,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
